Would Design by Humans or springleap.com be examples of crowdsourcing?

Yes, in a way. There are countless examples in which companies use the “crowd” to design and produce material. Customization and personalization in the consumer product world is a prime example. Online social media such as FaceBook and YouTube are other examples in which the end users willingly produce material for free. I think journalism can evolve a lot based on these models.
